NEW FORMS

I explore Vertical Filmmaking and Virtual Production through ICVFX and Unreal Engine. My work challenges traditional cinema norms by utilizing unique portrait framing and digital workflows to redefine narrative structures and artistic expression within the film industry.

New Normal (2021, 8 min., science-fiction drama)
New Normal began in 2021, when the pandemic had shut the world indoors. The Bucheon International Fantastic Film Festival and the Directors Guild of Korea brought ten directors together to explore what vertical framing could actually do as cinema. The festival partnered with TikTok: a three-minute version screened in cinemas during that year's festival under the title Like Me Like You, then went out into the world as a TikTok Original series, where it has been seen by more than 80,000 viewers.

I later expanded the piece into this eight-minute long-form version. It has since travelled through vertical film festivals in Italy, Argentina, Colombia, France, Spain, the Czech Republic, Korea, Canada, Singapore and the United States.

Twenty-Fifth Hour
(2026, 23 min. 4K), a hybrid live-action film created with ICVFX virtual production and AI-assisted development. The film began in January 2025 as a research and development project with XON Studios in Korea. We finished the studio shoot that October, and then the work slowed down on purpose. The AI tools we were building with kept changing beneath us, and often the newer version was good enough to be worth going back for. Those revisions, together with the sound mix and the colour grade, carried us through to August 2026, when the last of it was finally locked. It will be out in the world soon.
Cinematic Verticality

"It is my desire to intone the hymn of the male, the strong, the virile, active, vertical composition!"

Exploring new possibilities of cinematic storytelling in vertical filmmaking, not following conventional Academy Ratio that has been standardized in 1932 by Hollywood for economic concerns, not aesthetic interests.Â
